Doctors of Optometry are primary health care providers who specialize in the examination, diagnosis, treatment and management of diseases and disorders of the eye, visual system and associated structures, as well as the diagnosis of related systemic conditions.

Comprehensive eye examinations include:

  • detailed patient history
  • visual acuity
  • pupil evaluation
  • extraocular motility function
  • color vision testing
  • examination of peripheral visual field
  • analysis of the accommodative and binocular visual system
  • retinoscopy and refraction
  • examination of the external ocular adnexa by biomicroscopy
  • intraocular pressure measurement
